you need to be earnest. you need to tell people that you love them. you need to speak on how you’re feeling honestly. you need to be sentimental. you need to stop letting the fear of other people laughing at you have so much control over how you express yourself. you need to get over yourself. you need to be embarrassing but true.

do it for her (your thirteen year old self)
when lorde said “i am my mother’s child, i’ll love you ‘til my breathing stops” and when mitski said “mom, would you wash my back this once, and then we can forget” and when lucy dacus said “my mother hates her body, we share the same outline, she swears that she loves mine” and when lauren stokes said “the floor soaks up my screams as i am left alone, and i’m trying my best to break through to you” and when phoebe bridgers said “i wanted to see the world through your eyes until it happened and then i changed my mind” and when lucy eaton said “my mother has moved away, she never liked that town, i am so afraid that having children held her down” and when leanna firestone said “i don’t wanna be my mom’s least favorite only child anymore”
My most stereotypically white person habit is I really do LOVE saying “looks like we got here at the right time” if a place gets crowded after we’ve been seated
